2007 Hummer H3 10.1" Android 7.1 Installation

Postby Venom » Thu Aug 23, 2018 3:13 pm

Hi All,
I will be installing the AS274B-08A into my 2007 Hummer H3. I did custom installs for over 20 years using brand name equipment.. This is the first time I am trying an off brand.
I have lots of questions... and suggestions..
I got the unit yesterday from Amazon and read the manual and looked at everything it came with.. I thought I had purchased everything I needed for the install but right away I saw the ISO Plug on the main Power / Speaker harness. I am not a fan of cutting of manufacturer plugs. So I found the correct matching ISO plugs on Amazon. Now I have to wait two more days to do the installation.. Suggestion 1, You should mention that ISO Plugs will be needed in addition to any Factory Harness Adapter for the installation.

The manual is generic for all models and does not show the front control panel for this model. Here are a few questions.
1. I see a MIC on the face of the radio. Is this a microphone that can be used for Bluetooth hands free phone calls?
2. What is the USB version of this unit?
3. What is the largest size USB Flash Drive it will recognize?
4. What is the largest size Micro SD Card it will recognize?
5. What Micro SD Card speeds are compatible?
I am sure I will have lots more questions.. Thanks for the help.

Ok,
While I wait for my ISO Plugs there is plenty I can do.
I installed a CCD Night Vision Rear View camera into the center of the bumper. I removed the rear left interior panel and connected the cameras power and ground wires there to the Green - Positive and Black - Ground of the reverse lamp. I then continued running the video cable up the drivers side under the panels.

I took off the center dash panel. These are very easy to get off. There are two cigarette Lighter Outlets in the lower right corner.
Move the gear shift lever back. Now stick your fingers into the Cigarette Lighter Outlets and pull towards you. The lower right corner will pop out. Now work your way around the panel and pop the rest of it off. Unplug all the cables. Now your dash is open. Unscrew the for screws that hold in the radio. Now slide the radio out and remove all the cables.

Next I want to see how the radio fits. The Hummer H3 has a cross bar with a center mount bracket for the factory radio. That center mount bracket usually keeps you from installing a new radio. I might have to remove it.. I am using a Scosche Dash Kit for the installation.. Ok, Suggestion #2. Include the appropriate chassis mounting screws along with the rear support stud with your units. All major brands supply them.
Ok, found some appropriate chassis screws and mounted the Scoshe kit to the radio. I slid the radio in and it just misses fitting by a hair. So I will not need to cut out the center mount but I will need to slightly bend it. That way the radio will fit and I should still be able to use the rear support.

I took a 2 foot long 1" steel rod and a hammer and tapped both sides of the center mount and they folded and moved back. it did not take much at all to get it bend back. I then also found out that the wiring harness on the right needed to be move to the right side of the dash bracket so it would not interfere with the radio sliding into the dash. Here is a photo with the harness moved and the center bracket re positioned.

Next I installed the GPS Antenna on the dash. I removed the center dash bolt cover and filed a notch for the GPS cable into the rear. I fed the cable through to the radio. Then I placed the GPS Antenna onto the bolt cover and snapped it back into place.

Now I am about to install the Wifi antenna....
I was looking for recommended mounting locations in the manual but don't see anything.. Suggestion 3, Add some Wifi Antenna Mounting tips into the manual.

Ok, what is the best location for the Wifi Antenna?

Hi,sorry for the late reply.
thanks your picture and suggestions first.
1.there is an internal microphone under the hole which labelled "mic" on the panel .You can speak toward it when you were making a BT call.
2.USB 2.0
3.USB driver ,max up to 64GB
3.SD driver ,max up to 64GB
4.sorry that we didn't test all kind of sd card .However ,under class 10 is supported .
Thanks for your suggestion 1, i will react to my colleagues .
Thanks for your suggestion 2,generally ,the install screws is the same with your original one.So we don't provide them again.Hope your kind understandings.
About the suggestion 3, Generally, any place (don't under the metal) will be OK for you to place the wifi antenna.Usually ,you can place it on the surface of the cover of the car stereo or place on the center console (near to your GPS antenna)
In addition, more query, please show me your order number so that i can confirm your unit .Because our 10.1 unit is configured with android 7.1 ,not android 8.0.

I found that the best reception for the Wifi Antenna was vertical. I mounted it inside the passenger side dash pillar at the top and the reception works very well.
It was very easy to install. Carefully pop out the Air Bag Screw Cover and remove the phillips head screw. Pull the rubber weather stripping away from the pillar and then the pillar comes off freely. I cleaned the inside of the pillar with rubbing alcohol and then attached the Wifi Antenna to the inside of the pillar. There was plenty of room... Then reassembled the pillar.
